Pyramid Educational Advancement (PEA) Foundation's overarching objective is to inspire and facilitate a healthy reading culture amongst young people by setting-up libraries in underserved communities as well as public (primary and secondary) schools. We also mentor young people through our various programs such as the book reading club, periodic career and life skills seminars and also our volunteering scheme.

LIBRARIES

  • The donation of a standard school library to Ijaiye Ojokoro Senior College, Alagbado, Lagos
  • Agbado-Ijaiye Primary School Library, Alagbado, Lagos
    • This school is located in Ijaiye-Ojokoro LCDA / Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government area and it has a population of over 3000 pupils. It is worthy of note that there are 4 public primary schools (School 1-4) in the compound and none of the schools have a library that is suitable for children. The Library should be commissioned by a top official of Lagos state government in April \ May, 2017.
  • Establishment of IDP Camp Library, Maiduguri
  • The establishment & operation of a 28 seater capacity Ojokoro Community Library
    • The library was established in 2014 and members of the public access it for free.
    • Over 1500 books have been donated  to the library
    • Average of 70 people user/ day with a peak of 129 people.
    • Library users' age is between 9-53 years and 70% of users are mainly Junior & Senior Secondary School students.
    • Over time, we have discovered that most of the secondary school students spend between 1-3hrs after school daily at the library to do their assignments there before going home
    • Over 2000 unique visitors have used the Library in the past 17months since we set up

PROGRAMS

  • Over 5000 secondary school students have participated in our programs especially the Academy
  • Scholarship award  to 140 students that participated in our annual quiz competition & Excursions
  • Over 40 members of our alumni serve as volunteers with us
  • 90% of students that qualified for the competition have secured admission to a tertiary institution
  • Our monthly book reading club for children, teenagers, young adults and women  has about 100 members

N.B: It is noteworthy that younger children are not able to use this facility because we don't enough space to create a section for them hence our plan to expand or get a bigger facility which will require more books and other learning materials.
