Our goal is to provide access to potable water to villages and communities in Nigeria. We do this by donating fully automated boreholes and providing the necessary equipment to run them including an electric generator. Through our partnership with Habibu Engineering Nigeria LTD, we have been able to donate 26 boreholes to communities in Nigeria since 2016. In the Bwari area council and other areas of Abuja and others as far out as Niger, Nasarawa and Kaduna states. Reaching over 78,000 people.
We believe that access to potable water is a basic human right. One that should be afforded to every single living person. A report released by the World Bank on Monday, August 28, 2017, said Nigeria provided clean water to fewer than 10 per cent of its city dwellers. Poor water supply is a major route for transmission of typhoid fever, cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis A, and other water-borne diseases. Thus, it makes Nigeria besides Guatemala, Niger, Yemen and Bangladesh to also contribute majorly to the 40 per cent of the children aged under five mortality in the world due to the consumption of unsafe water.
For 2019 we plan to double our efforts and expand into other parts of Nigeria such as Maiduguri in Borno state where the Boko Haram incursion has displaced many. Visit us at www.KhadidjaBrahimFoundation.org for more information!
