This holiday season, wise code for Girls are partnering up to raise money to send local girls from low-income families to Plum Crazy Robotics in Jos Nigeria.
At this fun and interactive lab, students will learn code writing in Python and various other languages while working with Arduinos, Raspberry Pi's, gaming, 3D printing, etc. Students typically start with the same foundation and can choose which trajectory is most interesting to them. We will also purchase a take-home kit for the girls so they can practice at home and can keep after classes are over as a way for them to continue learning for years to come and share with friends and family!
Want to give AND receive? Come out to our Mix & Jingle Holiday Networking Event Thursday, December 20th 5:30 - 6:30PM at Westwood park schools and purchase raffle tickets to win an amazing prize donated by our generous friends.
All funds raised by both raffle purchases during the event and this crowdFundMe page will go towards the coding camp initiative.
And don’t forget, sharing is caring! Share this CrowdFundMe campaign and our event to those you know. The more funds we raise, the more girls we can send! Our target girls are for age 5-13 years
Classes will be 1x/week for 90 minutes after school and will run for 2 months. Classes will most likely start sometime in January depending on schedules and availability. If students are unable to drive to the camp or get a ride, we can arrange transportation at no cost to the student as part of the sponsorship.
An application process will determine which girls are selected to go. We will determine how many students we can send based on how much money we raise, and will announce the selected applicants in January.
If you know a girl who would be a great candidate, please share the application with them! No experience needed
