The ASENIX Initiative is committed to achieving long-term, robust protection for the most crucial areas of the oceans for both current and future generations. THE PROBLEM The ocean, the source of life to over 4 billion people, yet threatened by one of the greatest global threats, marine pollution.100 million marine creatures die from plastic pollution yearly due to our non sustainable production and consumption patterns. We are all responsible as 80% of ocean plastics come from land sources. These plastics are broken down into micro plastics and are mistaken for food by ocean creatures. Sea creatures end up dying from obstruction or asphyxiation. Micro plastics also make it to our food chain as some traces have been found in seafood.
