ABOUT ALADJA CENTRAL MOSQUE:

Aladja Central Mosque is owned and managed by an Uhrobo convert to Islam, Alhaji Dauda Jehwo. Situated in a southern region (Udu LGA) of Warri - in Delta State, Nigeria, the mosque currently caters to Uhrobo converts to Islam, but also the Hausa community in Warri.

My family met Alhaji Dauda Jehwo when making funeral arrangements for my late mother in 2021.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN AND ITS GOAL:

Alhaji Dauda Jehwo is looking to increase his mosque's capacity from 20+ people to 200. He's one of our Elders in Aladja's Uhrobo community, but one of the few to become Muslim. In fact, the majority demographic consists of Christians and native worshippers, hence is why we seek nationwide support for funding the mosque's expansion. Any amount is welcome.

The blueprints are now in place. After a few examinations with my dad, who's worked in the construction sector since 1990s, we've put the estimated cost at around N20,000,000 (both the foundation and superstructure).

Hey, guys. Thanks to everyone who had donated towards our mosque project in mom's hometown, in Aladja, Warri. But, I have serious news and further update. We were supposed to forward all the donations to one of our elders, Dauda Jehwo, a fellow Urhobo and convert to Islam, but I had two family members who'd confirmed that he passed away due to old age. Hence, this has halted our ability to send the money as we don't know anyone else he was affiliated with regarding the Aladja mosque project. Instead, I'm sending a letter to an already existing mosque in Warri: the Warri Central Mosque. You can follow its Aramex delivery status here: https://www.aramex.com/ng/en/track/results?source=aramex&ShipmentNumber=42072291796. What I intend is to ask if I can A) send the donations to them, hence still helping out a mosque project within Warri, or B) if hopefully, any of the mosque's staff members knew any of Jehwo's Hausa associates, so we can hopefully resume the mosque project in Aladja. Alternatively, if nothing comes out of it, I'll send the donations either to a mosque project within Lagos or Gaza, as the latter is lacking mosques due to the attacks from the Israel Air Force since 2023. If we come down to the Lagos/Gaza idea, of course, I'll post another update to keep all of your informed. Thanks for your attention.

Secondly, if you live abroad, go ahead and see if your credit/debit card works. Otherwise, send a Western Union transfer to me (Kaj, Omar Mohammed), but contact me first before doing so.

This is our first update. Since we've just begun, there isn't anything major to report on. However, we also need to remind our visitors to donate, and share the link via social media or messaging apps to help us reach more donors. I'll be posting more updates on the expansion project in the near future.
