Ibeshe, the neglected neighbourhood on the coast of Lagos, is the home to under-equipped publicly funded primary and secondary schools. A community of 23,850 people who are underprivileged with occupations that primarily consists of peasant fishing, farming, and sand collection. The community has access to two publicly funded primary school, one publicly funded secondary school and several private schools. Due to the economic conditions of the residents, a larger percentage of the population depends on the public school system.
With over 2000 students dependent on the public schools in the area, the system is poorly funded leaving families to provide basic amenities like classroom chairs for their wards. This situation leaves close to 70% of the students to take the option of learning without proper school facilities. Some opt for sitting on stones while others on the floor.
Help me make their schools, a conducive and safe environment.
