Masks4All is an initiative of YOUTH AGAINST COVID-19 (YACOVID) with a mission to deliver 50,000,000 (Fifty Million) Free Face-Masks between now and end of August 2020 to vulnerable Nigerians. The dreaded COVID-19 is beginning to ravage Nigeria. In response, governments across all levels have adopted lockdown and social strategies to flatten the curve. While this has produced remarkable results, the attendant economic implications may weaken the enforcement of the lockdown over time. Countries like the Czech Republic have demonstrated that lockdown measures, when complemented by mandatory wearing of face masks in public, is a very effective strategy for slowing the spread of the COVID-19. However, in a country with over 90M extremely poor people, who live on less than a dollar a door, access to Face Masks is a Luxury. The Mask4All initiative is a social collaboration project that seeks to provide locally-produced subsidized masks to the most vulnerable population in Nigeria. Through this process, we are building a volunteer database of 100,000 face mask producers scattered across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. With a cost of N250 per mask (a near 50% subsidy on commercially sold masks), each volunteer maker will be assigned to produce a certain quantity for their community. These makers are then paired with boots-on-ground volunteers who will assist in getting the masks to those most in need, within their communities. We believe that the fight against COVID-19 is one that we ALL must join hands to fight in one way or the other, no matter how small it seems. By donating, you are not only creating access to face masks for those in need of it the most, but you are also helping thousands of small scale business owners and makers earn a little income in such a time as this.
