Our Educational curriculum has been designed to produce job seekers as against job creators which the country is in dire need of.
In a bid to close the gap, it has become a matter of necessity to inculcate skill acquisition courses in our Secondary school syllabus.
We currently have a skill acquisition centre in Ijegun egba Satellite of Amuwo odofin LG that has gone moribund due to neglect by successive Government and we can start by renovating the dilapidated building and equipping it the human and capital resources to be able to train youths in the following courses:
- Fashion designing
- Capentry
- Cinematography
- Music production
- Soap making
- Shoe making
- Events plamning
- Software designing and coding
- Arts and Craft.
please note that the courses are not limited to the list above as they would be incorporated as it progresses. The long term plan is to have vocational centres in each Secondary school so that each student must have learned a skill as a prerequisite for graduating as against the practice of having Technical schools separately teaching these skills. This would help correct the stereotype that it (NABTECH) is meant for those who cannot do well academically.
The money donated would be used for revamping the existing skill acquisition centre in my Local Government while other proceeds would be used to have this structures in each secondary school in Amuwo Odofin Local Government.
