I am Kelechi Ruth Uhegwu, a polio survivor who has consistently shown resilience and tenacity through the rigours of life.
Surviving poliomyelitis is a starting point of what life eventually threw at me, constant hospital visits, treatments especially physiotherapy is like walking on sharp nails and determining to stay alive.
Learning to walk with aids like crutches and leg braces became another stage that I had to conquer till now that I am confined to the use of the wheelchair....
Despite all of these, I have remained positive and have few achievements like being a Laboratory scientist and a wheelchair basketball player.
I can hardly do much these days as I suffer from severe scoliosis of 58.8 degrees and require two urgent surgeries.
I have been referred to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and I am not able to afford this medical bills all by myself.
I would always wear my Smile and would not give up right now or anytime.
Help me keep my Smile, please.
